NEW COMPANY IN S.LO . OFFERS SMART & TIMELY SOLUTION FOR LOCAL WINERIES

San Luis Obispo- Winestein, a new venture launched by Sarah Taylor and Scott Maggelet, offers a solution to small to medium-sized local wineries regarding the administration and technology of their wine clubs. Wine Club members are a dedicated group of consumers from which valuable purchase and preference data can be gathered and used for sophisticated target marketing. More importantly, this direct-to-consumer sale usually represents the highest profit margin from each bottle. Interstate shipping laws are complex and dynamic, many times forcing the winery to decline a sale to certain out-of-state consumers so as not to risk non-compliance. Excellent wine club management practices can result in increased profits, simplified sales and dedicated patrons.

Winestein, a division of the Applynx Company, allows winery owners to outsource the administration of their wine club, including member database management, website development, marketing, compliance, customer service and inventory control. Wineries may choose a custom package of services to contract out all or parts of their wine club management. Winestein can save winery owners time if they currently administer the club themselves, or save owners money by eliminating the need to hire a full time employee for this task. Winestein offers sophisticated database management and data mining services for targeted marketing campaigns plus custom shopping cart applications for on-line purchasing. In a step that sets it apart from any current competitors, Winestein also offers phone and email customer service, whereby tasting room staff can immediately forward calls from their wine club members to the Winestein office, where their needs can be met. Rather than offering a new and complicated software application for winery owners to learn, in effect, Winestein is the off-site Wine Club Manager.

Winestein is the brainchild of Scott Maggelet and Sarah Taylor of San Luis Obispo. Scott is a JAVA programmer and website developer with over 10 years of technological experience. Sarah earned her MBA from Cal Poly in 2001 and has extensive experience in both the wine industry and in professional service sales & marketing. Sarah is vice-president of the Board of Directors for Friends Of Prado Day Center and president of the S.L.O Women's Network, as well as an active member of the S.L.O. Chamber of Commerce.
